It is quite common for rigorous training and competition to take its toll on equine health, sometimes resulting in injuries or procedures that require rehabilitation. At Broughton Performance Horses we believe that the care of your horse receives during rehabilitation often determines how successful their return to competition will be. Complete recovery is our ultimate goal. Whether your horse is recovering from surgery, injury, illness, requires a special nutritional & exercise program, needing to be reconditioned, or has just earned some R& R, we will design a program in coordination with owner, veterinarian, farrier, and trainer for your horse’s specific needs.
A successful rehabilitation plan addresses the total horse. Broughton Performance Horses incorporates the use of nutrition on a cellular level. Often times, nutrition is overlooked, but if the cells of the recovering body are not supported, the injury (bone, nerve endings and connective tissue) only heals on a superficial level and the cells under distress do not get the nutrients necessary to fully recover.
We also focus on his/her emotional well-being. We provide a peaceful, calm environment. Our rehab barn has a great view with large social stalls matted and heavily bedded, lighted, auto-water, fans, and fed three times a day. We have lovely sloping irrigated pastures for those who are allowed turn out.
Our generous size arena ensures secure and consistent footing on a carefully and frequently groomed surface. From hand walking to conditioning to reconditioning this allows your equine friend to be sure of their steps.
If you are planning a vacation or if other responsibilities or injuries prevent you from riding your horse, we can provide a special conditional program designed to keep your performance horse in shape. We can incorporate Riding, Lunging, and Turn-Out.
